Born in an artist family, from their childhood on; Ella and Nausicaa Jarrige discover the pleasure of playing music particularly in duets. Throughout their childhood, they naturally discover the cello and piano repertoire . A duet allows their sensitivities to develop and blossom in their sisterhood. Together they work on a vast repertoire going from the 18th century to contemporary music. They regularly play duets in France and in Europe.

     

 

 

   

Ella Jarrige was born in Paris in 1985. At 8 years old she begins to study the cello with Jean-Jacques Wiederker at the Paris 14th arrondissement conservatory. Other teachers have included Markus Jenny and Odile Bourin. At sixteen she enters the Conservatoire National de Région (CNR) of Boulogne-Billancourt in Jean Ferry’s class. There she also studies chamber music with Hortense Cartier-Bresson. She completes her musical studies by obtaining the Diplôme d’Etudes Musicale (DEM) in 2006. She is then admitted to the CNR of Lille in the class of Hélène Dautry where she obtains the Prix de Perfectionnement. Then, in 2008, she is admitted to the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich where she is currently studying in Professor Wen-Sinn Yang’s class. She obtains her Künstlerisches Diplom in 2010 and goes on studying in Meisterklasse. Since 1st November 2011 Ella is member of the Orkesterakademie of the Philharmonic Orchester of Hamburg.

All along, she has had the opportunity to meet world-class professors such as Michel Strauss, Valérie Aimard, Xavier Gagnepain, Jérôme Pernoo, Anner Bylsma and Wolfgang Boettcher .
In 2004, she goes on a summer tour with the French Youth Orchestra (OFJ- Orchestre Français des Jeunes) with conductor Jesus Lopez-Cobos.
In July 2009, she is a soloist in the Concerto in C major of Joseph Haydn with David Svec conducting the Budweis Philharmonic Orchestra.
Today, she is using a cello from Nicolas Vuillaume’s workshop on loan from the Fond Instrumental Français (FIF).

     

 

 

   

Nausicaa Jarrige started studying the piano with Carlos Cebro when she was 6 years old. She is then admitted in Dana Ciocarlie’s class at the Paris 19th arrondissement conservatory. She gets the Diplôme d’Etudes Musicales (DEM) with honours and plays the third Beethoven Concerto with an orchestra. She then goes on studying at the Conservatoire National de Région (CNR) of Boulogne-Billancourt in the class of Nicolas Mallarte. Her practice continues to improve with Professor Igor Lazko at the Schola-Cantorum. All along, she takes part in numerous master-classes where she has the opportunity to study with famous musicians such as Hortense Cartier-Bresson, Georges Pludermacher, Victoria Melki, Louis Fima...

An accomplished musicians, in addition to the piano, her main instrument, she plays the viola and learns thoroughly: analysis, harmony, chamber music, accompaniment.. She currently teaches at the Ozoir-La-Ferrière Conservatory and she is a substitute accompanist in the Paris Conservatories.
She often accompanies singing master-class with Françoise Galais.
Being passionate about chamber music, she regularly plays with musicians and singers in France and abroad.
She was finalist with the mezzo-soprano Solenn’ Lavanant at the Conegliano International Competition of Vocal Music Chamber (Italy) in 2008.
